2005 Shrimping Reports

1/6/05 Went to the SR520 bridge for a Great night of shrimping. Here's my catch

Surveyor

1-6-05, RRB, SSE @10, 2 Gallons Got to the Railroad Bridge around 6:00 Maybe 2 doz. till 8:30. Left and went to the Titusville Pier to see all the bridge dippers tearing it up. We got 2 gals the rest got 5. The key is too have low density light deep down our star fires were just to bright the shrimp would detour the outside shadows. tunacan

1/7/05 8_11pm, hallover canal, 70 wind e 5 to 10, 1/2 gallon, got ou of town late, didnt have much time any way,BUT it was a fantastic evening for the first night out this year, vessle & rigging worked well ,got 4 JUMBOES and the rest of a have gallon were large to med /water temp 68/ rangershrimper

1/7/05, T-ville bridge, Beautiful for January, 2.5, Got there @ midnight, set-up and dipped until 01:30 am. All large to jumbos. Broke a hoop and went to the house. blssmn

1/7 dark till 11, T'ville Pier, light south breeze, 3 gallons, Started out a little slow - then the current switched from north to south - things picked up quite well for about 40 minutes. Hawkeye and I were picking up 2,3 and 4 at a time - then the current slacked, shifted again. Things started picking up again - had to leave around 11 - probably could have limited if we stayed longer. Not bad though for a first outing this season. Last year we had 5 or 6 bust trips before we got on em. Scott

8 Jan. 05 7:30-8;30 P.M. Eau Gallie & Mathers Bridges, 73 F. Gentle breeze, a beautiful night, ZIP!!!, I checked out what if anything was going on at Mathers Bridge & the Eau Gallie Causeway Bridge. A total of about 15 people with nets & lights but no one was doing much of anything. Looking first saved me from putting the boat in the water tonight. Another night. Gil

1/8, South of RB 7:30-10pm 1 gal, mostly medium. I mis-read the tide. Nice nite to be out anyway. IMFISHIN2001

1/8, Oak Hill - The weather was perfect, tide was just right, had an east wind that changed to come from the south shortly after the tide changed... I knew that I was gonna have a great night! Unfortunataly, the shrimp didn't agree with anything that I though. Wound up with a half gallon (if that) of medium to large. The largest shrimp I've ever seen floated by around 1:30. He kept plenty of room between us! This thing wasn't a jumbo - it was a MacDaddy! First time out this year... dolphan83

1/8, Oakhill, Finally got 5 gallons. Set up around 11pm Sat night. Started out real good then slacked off until 330am. Then the flood gates opened. Had to share alot of the shrimp with a million trout. Mostly meds to large with quite a few jumbos. Water still not gin clear, no breeze, and most of the big ones were running deep in stealth mode. Only found them when the trout chased them up. Tide stopped around 530am. Home by 7am. Reefromper

01/08/05, Titusville Bridge, SSE wind less 10mph, 2 gallons, Set up at dark-plenty of boats & bridge noise makers. Could not figure out how they were seeing so many shrimp & we were 30ft away netting once to there 20 or 30 dips. For as many boats and shrimpers its nice to see everyone enjoying the night without incident. wonbigfish

1/9 Banana river, went to 520 at 10PM till 12:30AM slow till about 11PM  then pretty good for 1/2 hour . ended up with about 75 nice ones (1 1/2 gal+-)mostly large & jumbo.

1/9 Titusville, Got out just after dark and there were about a gazzilion boats at the RR bridge already, so we anchored up on the north side of Titusville Pier, just a few boats there at 8:00 pm. Dipped a few here and there. At about 10:30, noticed some guys just on the other side of the pier dipping like crazy, we wondered why we were not. Finally got smart and dropped our green bottom light over, WOW they were all over. Dipped steady till about 12:00, then slacked off. Started running hard at about 1:00 am and we dipped a lot till 3:00 am. Catch was a little more than 4 gallons, mostly large and a good number of jumbos. Sorry for the late post, just woke up a few hours ago. PaulW

01/12/05, Riverbreeze, Clear, Winds light SSE, 80 Count, Went south at RB starting at dusk last night. Not more than about 10 trailers at the ramp. Water was murky and the shrimp were very sparse. I think the catfish surrounding the boat ate more than we caught. We were the second to the last boat out at 9:30 PM. The last guy was just behind us and he did about the same. Until the next kitchen pass! JUSADOZENBOYS

01/12/05, 528 Bridge, south 70 deg, 30 shrimp, Got set up around 10 pm. picked a few every 15 min. went home at 12. about 4 jumbos the rest large. Jon

1/12 Titusville, Went to Haulover. Saw a mess of bridge dippers and a parking lot of boats on the water at the Garden St. bridge. Might should of put in there because there wasn't anything happening at the canal. Caught 6 shrimp from 8-930. Plenty of water movement but no shrimp. Shrimpzilla

1/12/05 / 7pm - 1030pm, 528 @ B.R. bridge, Wind SE 10-15 choppy, 3 gal mostly Jumbo the rest large, My daughter and I set up around 6pm nothing until 645 then fairly steady.Had to leave at 1030 with them still running. Hope to stay longer next time. CW

1/12, Oakhill, Slow night at the Hill. Set up around 5:30, stayed till 8, only got about 4 dozen small. Will try again this weekend. Patrick

1/12/05, Oak Hill (Lopez) wind SE@10, 70 deg. 66 shrimp, Beautiful night on the water for January. Only 6 other boats. They were all gone by 8:30. We stayed until 9:30, but it only got worse. 66 shrimp (1 jumbo, the rest were small to medium) Joe

1/13, Titusville Causway, Sunset to 12:30, Wind SE 10, good current. 113 med. to large. Couple jumbos. Overhead lights not so good last night. Some experts arrived as I was packing aroung midnight with bottom lights and were dipping as fast as they could. Would have unpacked, but I deliver FL Today in Palm Bay every night. Maybe they'll run earlier this weekend. Forecast calls for rain all weekend, have to find a raincoat. Looking for u/w lights and small generator, fast. Palm Bay Paul

1/13, Banana river, made a trip to Cocoa and met up with Surveyor for some bridge shrimping. First stop was my old stomping grounds next to the Cactus Flower on 520. Shrimp were running in the south side and packed. North side was no dipping. Wind was howling but nice temps. Next was the east relief bridge. Found a place next to the restarant and dipper 6 nice shrimp in 2 hours. Went to 528 and say lil dipping on the east end but found a spot taken oin the west side with shrimp flipping and a couple dipping away. Was good to get out and check it out anyways. Jethro

1/15 tville Causway, Got there real early. Great spot and in a near constant drizzle with 20+ kts. of wind got 5 med. Terrible night. Maybe tonight, although cold will be better. pauljr8

Monday January 16, 2005, Titusville, Cold Windy, 1.5 gallons, Weather was cold but shrimp were running east side of the bridge. Will be trying again tonight, has anyone been to the 520 bridge at Cocoa Village? Tony Price

1/16/05, RB, Cold and windy from the North, 2 gallons, Sorry about the late posting but we did not have a computer until we got back to work. We froze but were able to catch beyond our normal dozen. Initially set up south of RB park but it was too windy. Went north of the dock and anchored up there. Shrimpin started about 08:30, dipped slow but steady until 11:30. Small to medium shrimp with a couple of jumbos. Until the next kitchen pass. JUSADOZENBOYS

1/20, haulover form dark till bout 11:30- very little to NO water movement till 10:30PM maybe 2 gallons, when the water DID move, what shrimp ther were shut off. Water was really nice and clear though, could see the bulbs all the way to 15' deep ! flareds

1/20, Went to Titusville Bridge at dark, the wind was 0-5 out of the SW. The water was clean. The bridge dippers were getting a few. I left at 9:30 with about 14. The place was packed, the R.B. was lit up like a small city. Tunacan

1/20 merritt island, Went out to the 520 bridge and saw 3 shrimp and one other boat. Headed to the 520 relief bridge by Cocoa Beach , bridge was full but no one was dipping. Ran down to 528 and didn't see much action there either. Shrimpzilla

1/20, headed out at 9 returned 3 just north of r b no wind tide running decent got almost a gal deheaded mostly meds few large now to clear this up i call meds anything over 2 inches and under 4 larges are 4 to 6 and jumbos over 6 these all count as deheaded since you can eat the heads anyways lol if my sizing is wrong please let me know wasnt bad for first time this year good luck all and keep nets full Bill

1/21, Got there at 10:45 and saw shrimp on the way to setup. We setup and get a total of 38 shrimp medium to almost large. We went to 1:45 and had a great time with one son who is 12 and his friend who went for the first time. I may forget the shrimp we eat but the memory of my son and his friend is priceless earl

Jan. 21, 05 , Sebastian Inlet, Shrimped from a boat in the inlet from 8:30 until 11:30. Tide was perfect running out the whole time. Inlet itself was like a lake. Unfortunately the shrimp were few and far between. Caught 17 evenly mixed between large, and very large (but not truly jumbo). There were about 12 to 15 boats in the inlet. Some looked like they were dipping better some about the same. My guess is it was realatively slow for all. Checked the south side catwalk as we left. Same thing -- few shrimpers, fewer shrimp. Checked the Wabasso causeway (West Side) on the way home --no better. Should I have made the drive to Oak Hill? Eric

1/21/05 8:30 pm to 1:30 am, river breeze, clear & calm, 1/2 gallon, Went to oak hill on 1/21 and 1/22 got there about 8:30 pm on both nights stayed till about 2:00 am shrimp were very slow. Catching one at a time. Caught about 1/2 gallon each night. bill

1/21, Seb. Inlet, Calm, clear, Got to the inlet about 8:00, good running tide with a light wind but ended up with only a dozen shrimp - med. to extra large. Saw quite a few that we missed possibly due to the nets we were using (blue). May have to invest in the clear ones. This was my first time shrimping! Scott

21jan05, 520east, wsw5, 15 shrimp, bad night have done nothing here in weeks..try elsewhere next time shrimpahoy

1/22/05, memorial bridge in Titusville, 57 degrees, 4 dozens nice size, got there around 5pm, set up only 3 grougps setting up, very scarce, only one at a time every 20 minutes or so, the weather got real cool, some wind, maybe next time. Cathy

1/22, rrb, TITUSVILL cold and windy RRB. was loaded with people shrimp were slow one shrimp thirty jellyfish wow. manage to get one gallon mostly small to med. few large.

1/25, Lopaz, South of lopaz winds from the south about 10 to 15 air temp about upper 50 strong tide we set up at 7:00pm, shrimp were sperattic two or three here and there then nothing then one here two there, you get the ideal it was slow. the water really clear and moving fast and so was the shrimp. I had them half way down my net and they would kick out of it. we got a gallon med to large a couple jumbo like haul over size. we left at 11:00pm the white light seem to do the best. Until next time keep them straight up. Smile carolinaskiffer

1/26/05 7:00pm to 1:00am, Oak Hill, light wsw wind, 55 degrees, 3 gallons, when we got there the shrimpin was slow but steady. But after the tide changed to "Oak Hill incoming" at 9:00 and all the other boats left, the shrimpn picked for a good couple of hours. Too bad the shrimp were small to mediums, but we had fun. Always Wet1/29, North of Riverbreeze from 6pm til midnight. Really slow maybe three dozen. Thought they would tear it up with the south wind and strong tide. So did everyone else. Real slow. Stayed for the first hour of incoming too and nada. Reefromper

1/26 rrbridge, 10pm-1am freind & I set up on the north side when evryone else started leaving and as luck would have it the shrimp did run for a short time Cool got close to 2 gallons. small to med with a few mixed large.  w/sw wind around 10 - most shrimp were very deep.  water was nice & clear, lots of weed tho. flareds

01-29-05/6:00pm - 11:30pm, Haulover Canal, Winds SW @ 10mph; upper 50s, 15 shrimp, Water was running from west to east. It started out pretty clear and muddied up later in the evening. Shrimp were very slow, but good-sized. There was about 25 boats west of the bridge and everyone appeared to be experiencing the same degree of success. They paved the parking lot since last year - that was nice! Quigley

7-8 P.M. Mathers & Eau Gallie Causeway Bridges, 65 Degrees Wind 5 Kts from the North, ZIP!!! Checked both bridges before I put the boat in the water. There were about a total of 15 people with nets on both bridges. No one had more than a half dozen shrimp. I went home without putting the boat in the water. Nobody went to Oak Hill, Haulover Canal, or Titusville RR Bridge this weekend? Gil

Monday January 31st. Haulover canal, Windy and Cool, 1 1/2 gallons big to medium, Me and my girlfriend put in a haulover about 7:00 p.m. we were the only boat in the area. We got set up with a strong incoming tide the water was extremely merky if the shrimp were not on top or within 6 inches from the top you couldnt see them. We ended up sticking with it until 10:30 when the current started dieing and so did the shrimp. We ended up with about a gallon and a half of big to medium and a couple jumbos not to bad for the time we stayed and the visibility in the water. Brandon

01/30/05, Oak Hill, Windy, North, Cold, Set-up before sunset, left approx 8:30 PM as did most everyone else....cold & choppy water, saw 6 shrimp, caught 2, release 2...lousy nite....maybe better next time don

1/30, Eau Gallie Causeway, Mean Gene, the man with the spot, pulled over a gallon. Mostly med and large with about a dozen jumbos. Wind out of north 10-15, 60 deg.. They didnt start moving till about 10p. Dirty Howie

1/31/05, Oak Hill, Cold, 4 gallons, Managed to get 4 gallons even though Clammy had explosive diarea after eating some week old bait on a $10.00 bet. He was also seeing double which equated to an aprox 15% success rate for dipping. Shrimpslayer

2/3 Oakhill, Set up a little north of Lefils around 8:15. Wind was light and temps in the lower 60's. Shrimp trickled by during the slack tide and we got a couple dozen. Someone then turned on the north wind, a little early, and she blew @20+, along with rain. Headed for the dock with everyone else. Might have been a good night, heard good news of the night before. Shrimpzilla

2/3 riverbreeze, 9 pm started out beautiful, 45 minutes later is seemed like the begining of a hurricane 15-20 mph wind. 2 dozen. maybe next time fdshrimper

02/03/05 7:30PM, RR Bridge, wind WSW 10-15, 58 deg. 3 1/2 gall, Made it to the RR Bridge about 7:00, set up 7:30. a few here and there until 8:30 then the flood gates opened up with 6-10 med to large at a time, 30 seconds a part, until 10:00PM. Next thing you know, the storm of the century hits and the winds kicked up to 25+ and the river turned into the ocean, then rain squawls hit. Had to pack it up then and run for my life. Going again the 5th to HC, let you know how it was. MIke

2/5, 528, 58deg, NE Winds@ 15 MPH, 1 ft waves, 3 shrimp....pretty sad! We usually go to Tville but it was chopped out. There were a lot of people on the catwalk so why not give it a try. We stayed from 7pm till 3pm. And only got 3 shrimp. Was this a really slow night for 528? Or is this the norm? allie

2/5, Mathers Bridge, Windy, cold. Water temp 59, Went out at 7pm till 11pm. Very slow night. Only picked up a few.

05 February 2005, Oak Hill, Cool, calm, nice night, 2.5 Gallon, Saturday night, not busy. Best I've ever done at timeing my arrival. Tide was at High slack. Wind was light out of the north and then died. Put in about 2300 and tide began to run out to the north about 2330. Slow start, then once it started the dipping was pretty steady until about 0300. The box net had a ball of shrimp larger than a very large grapefruit but smaller than a basketball. I think we got about 2 times more shrimp dipping than in the box net. bruce

2/8 riverbreeze, got out there around 11:00 the tide did not turn till 1:00 so we went to tri for flounder till then around 2:00 they started to run got a gal in an hour an then the fog rolled in and we could not see 5 ft around the boat so we called it a night. meat

02/09/05 RR Bridge. Wind SW @15/20 and cool. Nice night out. The water was kind of dirty and lots of weeds were floating by. Set up around 7 and did not see one shrimp. I did how ever learn that under the conditions we had the bottom type lights worked better. There were a bunch of ISSA people out there with bottom lights and they were dipping some shrimp, but from what I could see nothing to write home about. We left around nine and called it a learning experience.

2/09/05, Titusville Railroad Bridge, wind SE, 10-15MPH temp, high 50s, approx 2 gals, At RR birdge and dust along with zillions of other boats...with generator lights, set up on east side of channel, wasn't but three of us on east side....but shrimp was large to jumbo's, only dip for couple of hours....nice night tho' Don

2/12, Riverbreeze, Cold night arrived around 630pm. A few shrimp here and there. Water was way off color made it harde to see them rascals. Stayed until midnight and caught the turn of the tide for about an hour. Total about 5 dozen. Next weekend is going to be the mother load. Warm all week late tide and close to full moon.

2/12 RR, Got their about 7:00 pm set up winds were about 5 to 10 shrimp were speratic, water was pretty clear, current was moving good towards haulover. About 11:00pm winds layed down and the current did to, waited until the water moved the other way caught a few shrimp during slack current, but that was it. the air temp was 54 when I got their and was 52 around 12:30 when I left. Got about a pint cleaned, it was still better then staying home watching TV. I guess the cold weather keep them in the mud. Smile carolinaskiffer

2/12/2005, RR, 46 deg, 5 mph N winds, 3 gal, We were out from 6:30pm - 12:30am. The run started around 7pm. We got 2 gal in about 2 hours. The water glassed over and the wind died around 10pm. Shrimp were slim picken after that. allie

2/13 9:30, riverbreeze, 10 shrimp, tide was slowing when we arrived lots of boats but no shrimp Jeff

2/12 & 13, Riverbreeze, Low 50s; winds S @ 5, 1/2 each night, Shrimped the outgoing tide Sat & Sun nights at Riverbreeze - caught 1/2 gallon each night. Maybe it's just a little too early.... Quigley

Feb 14, 815p-1200a, T'ville Swing Bridge, Good breeze out of the s/sw, water was clearest I've seen it this year. After a Valentines dinner with the wife, I headed over to the park a little later than usual. As soon as the lights went in, I was in to a steady pick, lasted for about 15 minutes, then it was slow for the rest of the night. Ended up with 1 1/4 gallons, mostly mediums, with a few large. Snookman

1/15, SR 528 and Banana RiverWent last night to my usual spot.Anchored up north of 528 at Banana River Drive relief bridge. Got 3 dozen mostly large shrimp by 9 pm.Too bad it was a work night,as it seems the run was getting better when I had to leave. Shrimpers on the shore weren't doing as well as I was Wink

2/15 Sebastian inlet, Arrived at 6 and tide was early, already on the way out. Set up by 7 and dipped out just under 4 gallons before we decided to pack it up just before 11, 2 dippers no box net. There is a huge difference where you set up as to how many shrimp you see. White net is the only way to go, Generators people seem welcome here, starfires work good, bring a biiiiig anchor and when they run sebastian is not tailgate sport, is full on shrimp action give you a cardiac, i want my momma type stuff.

2/15/05, rr bridge, set up at 6:30 on east side of channel....got about 3 doz...wrong side for sure...people back at dock we talk to had much better luck on west side...next time I be on west side... Don

River breeze, Beautiful night current was swift shrimped for over 2 hours for 9 shrimp. Had to end the misery at 10PM. Hopefully things will pick up soon. Anybody have any comments on why we are not seeing shrimp like last year? Lito

2-15-05, RR bridge, sw wind 10 knots clear, Lots of boats waiting on shrimp but they never showed up. Ran very slow until the wind and current stopped @ 9:30. Micah

2/15/05, rail road bridge, light chop from wind, 248 count, Got to the bridge with no room on the main bridge, went to the east side in 14 foot of water, dipped all jumbos all night. Had great time. pulled lights at 2:00AM sweetsixteen

2/15/05, rr bridge, set up at 6:30 on east side of channel....got about 3 doz...wrong side for sure...people back at dock we talk to had much better luck on west side...next time I be on west side...2/17/05, 520 E. Relief, wind 10-15 w/nw @ 65 deg. 3 Gals, South current, shrimp sporadic from 8:00-12:00. Large-Jumbo. Frank

2/16 T'ville Causeway area,  Anchored up before sunset, sat and waited in no current, with hardly any breeze. Didn't look good, but then about 40 minutes or so after sunset, they started popping up. Slow at first, then all over the place. Not exactly sure how long the run lasted, but it did go to a slow pick until midnight. My friend and I ended up with a little less than 5 gallons Snookman Very Happy

Fri, 2/18 report Sebastian Inlet, Shrimped from a boat at the inlet from about 7:45 until 10:15. Outgoing tide; water temp not known; Wind fairly howling out of the Norhteast. The shrimp were there but my equipment was not up to snuff. Ended up with enough large or better shrimp to cover the bottom of the bucket. Caught one for every five that went by, mostly due to my inability to place my lights correctly. Checked the L-dock on the way out. It was full of shrimpers (both dippers and frame netters) and most were doing well. Saw buckets anywhere from an inch or two full to one-third full -- and there were still 2 hours of tide left. I suspect some ended up with their limit or close to it

2-18-05, Railroad Bridge, Got there at 7:30. Left at 11. 1 gallon large/jumbo. 15 to 25 mph wind out of the North mad them tough to see.Cuervo

Riverbreeze 2/18, Planned a trip 2 weeks ago w/ old friend and the cold was not to detour us, we came prepared.. Set up just south of riverbreeze about 9. Tide went slack at 9:30 and turned soon after. Wind was cold 5-10 from ne. Fairly little boat traffic for rb on friday night. Shrimped from about 10pm til 1am and ended up with 1/2 gallon mostly small very few med and about 3 large shrimp. Probably could have doubled our catch but the warmth of my bed had wiggled its way into my brain and off i went. Same as every year give it 1 more month and the shrimp will come out in drones. 4 nights in a row last year had my limit in 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. enjoy burnr

12-18-2005 6:00 pm to 12:00am, halover, 47 degrees windy 10-15 north, 3 dozen, To windy for Railroad bridge...tried halover, tide was running about 3 knots out of the east and visibility was clean but the shrimp were slow. Only about three dozen. Great breakfast, will try Railroad tonight if the wind lays down. Land and Sea tc

2/19/05 EG Causeway, Put the boat in about 4pm and went trout fishing (14 schoolies) with the boy and a friend. Anchored at the bridge about 6:45pm till 9:30 pm. Ended up with 2 dozen. The bridge shrimpers caught ten to my one all evening. Wind 5mph sse. Shrimp were large to jumbo.

2/24/05, RR Bridge, calm @ apros 60 deg, Total count 65, Seem to be a perfect night...calm winds, glassy smooth, short sleeve night, moon and tide good....had to battle trout all night to see which one got shrimp. sunset to 11PM, all in all, had good time catching 65 jumbos & large but no big run, spotty but grandson had a ball catching and releasing those trouts........ don

feb 24, Eau Gallie Causeway, perfect calm, moonlit/partly cloudy, ~70, 3/4 gal, Got out at about 7:30 on the catwalk. Shrimp were as active as i've ever seen them at EG bridge (which is not very active). They were pretty constant up until dead tide (peak of high) and when the current shifted from flowing south to flowing north they were completely gone- not even a sighting after that. Caught 41 med to jumbos in ~3 hr. Nathan

2/26 HC, East wind @ 15-20, water movement was from the east. Shrimped from 7:30-9:30 and got 1 gal of small - med. Water temp= 68.7 and air temp=63. Anybody else out there or Oak Hill, Frank

2/26 Riverbreeze, Arrived at 630pm and got set up. Plan was to catch the last three hours of outgoing tide and if it was good stay for some of the incoming tide. Well good N/NE wind made the tide change earlier. We think this is actually a good thing b/c tide would change to outgoing earlier and we may get a full outgoing tide to shrimp on. Wind died for a while then turned out of the east. Nice pretty water but few shrimp. Picked up most on slack tide about 50 in all. Left at 130am when the rains moved in and tide was still comming in strong with no sign of changing to outgoing. We will get them next weekend. Reefromper

3/2 Lauched around 730PM at Riverbreeze runnin late and quite a few people gathered near River Breeze. I think because of the cold not many wanted to venture too far from the ramp. Any way went down to Lopez area and anchored up, turned on the lights and they were everywhere. We limited out in about 3 hours but the mad rush was 8-9PM. A great night, and rewarding for the last few times where we did not get anything! Very Happy Lito

3/3 Oakhill, Went to Lefills last night in the rain. Got there around 9, late for the tide, but it really wasn't doing much then. Temps were in the 50's with a north wind @ 5-10. Water temp was 57. Made a move, the wind died, and the flood gates opened. Dipped steady till 1200. Trickled steadily by until 1 when we left with our 5 gallons. Frame net caught a few nice pouches full. Shrimpzilla

3/4 Riverbreeze, What a difference a few nights make. Was all excited about getting my 5 gallons Friday night. Got there at 7pm stayed until 130am. No wind calm water, but milky. Few and far between. Maybe made 2 gallons if I stretch it. Thinking about heading back tonight. Reefromper

3/4, Riverbreeze, We got there to a gorgeous evening around 7:30 and stayed till 11:00. We netted 89 shrimp with one that was in the bottom of the boat in the morning STILL ALIVE. So I put him in the pool (salt water generating type) and he lives for a few hours till the pool cleaner got him. Earl

3/5 Lefils area water temp 63, air temp?wind at 10-15 from the ne all night brrr. FYI our tide graph seems off. Graph had high tide at 10pm. We were set up by 9:10 and tide had already started moving out. Slow pick with 2 dippers and no box net , we ended up with 1 gallon of smalls and mediums, only about 2or 3 large shrimp. To bad ive got this stupid thing we call a job, every one said the 2or 3 days prior were off the hook .0h well. Was a good night with good company and we were done by midnight. Burnr

3-5-05 Riverbreeze, 8:30 pm – 1 am; launched at Riverbreeze and traveled a little ways south. The flood gates never opened! Ended up with less than 1 gal. First time using the green lights and they worked well in the cloudy water. Unsure of the water temp, just know it was warmer than the air temp. Patrick

3/5/5 RRB, Late start...9:30 to 12-:30. 1 1/2 gals med to jumbo. Boat ramp was choppy but RR was beautiful. About 15 boats on the west side. sharkbait

03/06/05, RR Bridge, 5-10 MPH SE Low fifties, 4 plus gallons, Set up right at 7 PM, as soon as lights went on the flood gates open and kept going until we left at 9:45. always been the "day before" or the "day after" but this time we were there on the "day".. Best night so far this year....mosty large to mediumn....very satisfied...went to Oak Hill night before....25 small, one large and froze....ENJOY don

3/06, 7:30 PM to 10:15 PM, Titusville Bridge (boat) SW Wind 7-10 MPH, 2 Gallons (350) Set up in boat under the Titusville Bridge at 7 PM. Moderate S SW Wind. Shimp started to move at 7:22 PM. Got two gallons(350 shrimp) by 10:15 PM, shrimp were still running when I quit for the night Franko

03/07/05, RR Bridge Titusville, High Wind SSW @ Temp...??????Cool, Approx One Gal.... What a difference a day make...same place, same time a day later but instead of four gal, only caught approx one gal....but about a fourth was jumbo large, then large to med...take away wind otherwise a pretty good night..don

3/7 8pm till 1 am, Riverbreeze, windy, 1.5, Very slow and short tide. Not much going on ran south of riverbreeze and got about 1.5 gal of med to large. Set up in about 8 ft of water. Jason

3/10 RR bridge sunset to 10pm, 59º water temp, 67º air with mostly a south wind 15mph.I IMed Surveyor to see if he would like to go shrimping decided to go for it and tried my new lights.when the flood gates opened and managed 3 gallons. Mr. Green Jethro

3/11/05 6:30 - 11:30, Haulover, low 60's, winds 15-20, I wish! Went to Haulover for the first trip out this season. The water was flowing in the right direction, but shrimp were few and far between. Only netted two, both small. Talked to other folks pulling out, all with a similar story. Hopefully will get into them next time. RJF

3/13/05, Titusville Bridge, 68 Degrees, light SW wind, 2 gallons, 3/13/05. Light SW wind, 68 air temp. South Side of Titusville Bridge (boat). 2 gallons, medium to large, from 9 to 10:30 PM. Franko

3/14/05 / 8pm till 11:30pm Garden Street Bridge, Titusville, almost no wind, 5 Gal, Just on a whim, myself and friend Roger went to Titusville to dip a few shrimp and maybe land some trout. The fishing rods never left the holder. They ran solid from a little after 8pm and slacked off around 11pm. Interestingly enough they didn't come under the lights but rather came by in droves on the darker side of the boat, diving down deep as they approached the lights. Dipped 95% plus in the dark area. I could tell you exactly where I parked the boat, but then I'd have to kill you yep THESNOOKER3/14 dark to 11pm, RR bridge, sw wind 5-10mph 68º water temp 65º, 2.5 gallons. anchored up, waited and met a couple out there that was their first time out there so let them anchor close and dip off the other side of my lights. they ran slow but steady and they were able to get a few with it being new to them somewhat awkward. they slowed down and lots of bait fish hung out so packed up and went to the swing bridge to gather the rest of my catch which seemed like tghe better place last night. It was a nice day out there and met new friends. Jethro

3-14-05, R-R Bridge, Almost 1 Gallon, The wife and I headed out for the first time to try shrimping we have heard about. Borrowed some nets and lights from a friend and headed out. Arrived at the R-R bridge about 6:00pm and anchored . There were lots of boats there and it was a great night weather wise. I looked over and the boat next to us said "Shrimpin.Com". It was the master himself. Many thanks to Jethro for helping a couple of rookies. He shared his lights and let us anchor close to him so we could be close to his lights. We had a great time and ended up with about a gallon of medium and large and a few of what I would call jumbo's. Looking forward to next time. Thanks Jethro, Charlie S.I.T.S.

3/16/05, 3:00 AM ! ! ! Sebastian Inlet, strong west/southwest wind (25-30 mph) ZERO, Nada, nothing, I showed up at 3:00 AM for the outgoing tide, thinking I would have the place all to myself. Wrong! There were already 4 other guys there, & they had staked out the best locations. The shrimp really never ran. It was warm & windy. Very little grass or crabs in the water. A truly bad night for shrimping. However, I will return again some day. As an alternate plan I went oystering the next day & got more than I needed, so It wasn't all a loss. The Can Am Kid

3/18 riverbreeze, really slow and late tide stayed til midnight when the cold and the lack of shrimp chased me to my truck. Anyway you never know if you don't go. With the north wind tide was slow and managed around 100 skrimps med - and a few large, lawrence

3/18 dark till the anchor rope broke @ 8pm, railroad bridge, 68º air 61º water with nw winds of 20mph, 1 gallon, Got to out spot at sundown and had a hell of a time anchoring. Finally got the hook to set and threw out the lights in 1-2' slop. shrimp were being consistant but the wind and waves was hard to tolerate and to stand up at times. Kept busy at it till the anchor rope cut on bottom parted ways and the boat took off like a sailboat twards the ramp. The wife had had enough of the waves getting her wet so we made it a short trip. Jethro

3/19 riverbreeze, The difference a day makes. After Litos report for Friday night I almost did not go. Got set up around 830pm. Tide started to move at 9pm. Stayed until 2am. 3 gall. Could of had 5, but a lot of the shrimp were small and did not want to mess with them. The water was strange. You could see the cold water mixing with the warm water and it gave it an oily appearence throughout the water. Kinda was like a mini thermocline on top which distorted the view of the shrimp. No wind, kinda of cold, and a barge at 1am. Reefromper

3/20/05 8pm-12pm, PARK STREET RAMPS/ BLUE HOLE, WIND N, then E, finally S, temp. 59, 1 gal and a full bait box for fishing, First time shrimping since last year. Put in at Park Street then headed south. Got set up around 8. the tide never swapped around until 9. But still was able to net a few on an incoming tide before they picked up. Was nice to net 1 gal. before calling it a night. After all the power outages during the hurricanes, our freezer is fresh out of shrimp :( Hoping for a good season to replenish. Lot of the larger shrimp were running deeper and a lot of them made the trip outside the lights. Using two different lighting colors. white and green. All and all a good night. Got to spend time on the water with my father. CHASINTAIL

3/22 @ 520, went out for a couple of hours to the big bridge, got 1.5 gal. of Lg-Jumbos. Wind was SSW @ 15 mph, air=72 and water=73. Shrimped by boat from 9-11:30- used newly made underwater lights- WOW. Thanks for the helpful info to those who provided pics/info last month's forum. What a difference! yepFrank

3/23/05, Titusville Bridge (Max Brewer) west side, air temp 65, wind west 7 mph, (in boat) 7:30 to 9:30 PM, got one gallon in deep water. No other boats around. Franko.

3/24 oakhill, Anchored up at 1:45 and shrimped until 4:00. Current running out--north. Water temp and wind temp not known. The shrimp are running. Brutally late tide, especially driving to and from Vero. Costant dipping the whole time. At times pure chaos. It was a blast. Ended up with approx 3 gals, dipping over one starfire. At approx 3:30 wind turned fairly strong out of the South/Southwest and the shrimp seemed to stop. Only waited 15 mins after wind came up because was so tired. May have turned on again later. Approx 10 boats along the channel. Size was not great mostly med with a few bigger, a few smaller. Give it a go! Eric

3/26, riverbreeze, Made it over after the rains Friday night. Arrived around 1230 and got three gallons before the tide really changed by 2am. They slacked off. Stayed until 5am to finish off 5 gall. Evenly mixed between med, lag, and jumbos. Light south wind 70 degree air. Water was very tanic after all the rains. Tide was not really strong for a full moon tide.Reefromper

3/28 Tville swing bridge, variable winds calm for 2 hours, water temp 70º, 10 shrimp, Got set up at sundown and turned on the lights..... not much activity 10 shrimp total then the winds hit us good and anchor pulled and then stuck. Could not get thet anchor loose and had to cut. I really need to get the skunk off my boat! Jethro

3/29/05, Tuesday night---set up at dusk to be ready for the big run...nice night, windy at times but mostly calm, water clean, temp. not known....no moon????????????ready for the biggee but unfortunately, someone forgot to inform the shrimp, they fail to show for the party...for our efforts from sunset to 10:30 PM, we had a grand total of seven shrimp to show for our time...what can I say, even the best party is a bust at times...there be others tho', don't think the other approx dozen boats did much better either, better luck next time...don

3/29 520 and 528 banana river bridges. Went to 520 first- nada. Then to 528 where we got 100+ med-jumbo. Wind was W @ 5-10, air temp=65, water temp=74. Shrimped from 9-12. At least we got a dinner or two!

3/29, Titusville RR bridge Beatiful night and a great time despite the lack of shrimp. This was Tues 3/29 set up at the RR bridge just in time for a brilliant fiery red sunset. NASA had a cool light show on the V.A.B. also. Wind was 10-15 from SW but died off all at once around 8 o clock to only about 5 mph. Air Temp seemed mid to low 60's and i am not sure about the water temp. We shrimped from sunset til only about 10:30 on the eastern side of the RR bridge and ended the night with only 5 med sized shrimp. I did speak to some folks on the west side and none of them had gotten more than 1 dozen shrimp up to that point. Also studied the bridge dippers for a brief time and every single one of them seemed idle. Just walked in the door so Good night and good luck yep burnr

4-2-05 8-12, riverbrees, windy, cold, 1-1.5 gal. we pulled into riverbrees about 8pm till midnight caught about 1.5 gal. medium to large. didnt see any small. hope to do better next weekend. todd

4-3 / 10:30-3 AM, Oakhill, 55 deg. wind 5 NW, water temp 71, 1/2 gal. Started out running slow before the tide changed and went down hill from there. Joe

4/3/05, Riverbreeze, clear, 5 gallons, Ancored up at 11P.M.. Shrimp started burping directly. Caught 5 by 1:30. My first run of the year. Captain MayPopper

4/4/05, Haulover Canal, Clear wind 5mph, 4 shrimp, 4/4/05 Monday got to haulover before dark set up turned the lights on at 8:00 for a total of 4 shrimp. Packed up at 10:30. Unbelievable i just read the report for RR bridge same night and they limited out in a couple hours. I cant belive that. I talked to some of the shrimpers on the main bridge on the way back and they only had a couple. Well i guess i was just in the wrong place. Brandon

4/04/05, RR Bridge,,,, From a total of 7 shrimp on 3/30/05 to a MAX tonight in about two and half hours....set up around 7:30, sunset shortly after...around 8:15 the flood gates open and those things you call shrimp was really swarming...no way could you catch them all...best night I had this year...winds were SW(believe). about 5-10 MPH at times, calm at other...just a beautiful night for shrimping...for those that weren't there, all I can say is SORRY....Had company around 10:15, the FWC guy came by giving "safety checks", got to say tho', he was really nice..didn't have anchor light on but otherwise OK>..It appears from talking to others at dock, superd night for all....don

4/5/05 RR Bridge from just before dark to 10:30. Boats were stacked up on East and West side of bridge. I set up on the west side and watched as the nets stayed high and dry most of the night. I ended up with a total of 2 shrimp. So between the night before last and last night i have a total of 6 shrimp. Well I guess i went to the wrong spot on monday and last night they were done running at RR. Brandon

4/5 RR Bridge, Well me and my good friend Fla Archer hit the bridge last night for the first time and can honestly say "We think it was a hoax" We saw 1 shrimp ease on by and we did move around a little but nothing. We did get to see a guy up close to the bridge fenders catch a real nice over size red and throw it back. Everyone applauded and cheered.

4/5, 9PM-1AM, RR BRIDGE, AIR TEMP 66°, WIND S@10, WATER TEMP ?. Got set up about 9 and caught 4 nice ones as soon as the lights were turned on, next 30 min. saw none. Well it was a very slow night. There were a number of boats there, probably due to the 4-5-05 report of a limit in 2 hrs. Probably stayed to long for the few shrimp in the water, but every time I got ready to put my net away and break down I would see one....ended up with about 75 mostly large. Better luck next time...
Paul

4/5, Edgewater, 5 gal, Got to the boat ramp at about 9:00, boat ramp starting to get busy so tried to hurry and put the boat in. Well I forgot to put in the plug. I didn't notice until I already had the motor runninig. As I went to turn on the bilge the motor shut off. I left the choke on and I have a pull start motor. I was there for about an hour before this really cool guy offered me some starting fluid. Buy now it's already got crouded, but I got the motor running, and I'm going shrimping. Started out bad, but ended up very good. Very sore! jdd777

4/8/, RR Bridge Here we go again. RR bridge friday night from before sunset until approx 11:30PM....wind NNW 10-15 MPH and then calm down late..Hope Lito and Brandon don't think this is another hoax but for the five hours of shrimping, netted 23 jumbos so don't go running off to the bridge on account of this report, eh...hohoho but hey, they could be popping up like popcorn saturday night, never know do we...Happy Shrimping ----don

4/8, Haulover, Took my wife and 7yo daughter shrimping for the first time. 8pm - 11pm. Flow was from the east, and the shrimp were running slow. Ended up with a bit over 2 dozen. Most of those were taken after 9:30pm. Was thinking of going to the RR Bridge, but sounds like it wasn't any better there! RJF

4/9 RRB, Hung out at the ramp for a while to see if the wind was going to die down. Got out to RR at 7:30. Wind never died. We were rocking all night. My husband could have surfed those waves. Left at 12:30. 12 shrimp...let me repeat....12 Shrimp. Next time I bring the pole and throw one of those shrimp on a line and see what we come up with. Saw a lot of reds running, but NO shrimp. sharkbait

4/12, Riverbreeze, Set up by sunset, winds 10 + out of the south, water cloudy. Slow night, the shrimp were running pretty deep and hard to see. Ended up with less than 1/2 gal; and at least 7 or so with cotton (aka purple crud). A buddy of mine set up next to me and had a box net. He ended up with almost 2 gal. All were small to med. Back to the dock by 10:45. Patrick

4/12 sunset to 11 HC and the swing bridge, winds sw @ 25 knots 73º water 10 shrimp, When I got to the ramp it was 2' seas @ 1 sec. so opted to go to HC for a while. Nothing going on there so back to parrish park to try near the pier. Got 10 in an hour and the rocking and rolling was too much so headed in. Jethro

4/13 @ 528, West wind @ 15-20, water=74 and air=70. Shrimped from 9-11:30, and got our usual 50+ med-large. Probably keep alive and use for bait- snook, trips and cobes if it ever calms down again. captfrankm

4/14/05, Riverbreeze, windy, gallons????? got out early ( 7pm) to anchor No shrimp action got about 2 doz small to med. So windy it almost blew off my toupe'!!! wind never gave up but we did. till next time shrimpeyes

4/15 Patrick AFB, Went out around 9:00, and the bannana river was extremely rough from the 20+ MPH winds blowing from NW. We dropped our traps, and had good luck early. We stayed until about 1:30 am, and ended up with 60 (mostly large with a few mediums). Poole & Los

4/16/05 Haulover Canal, Wind NE 15-20, From before dark to 12:30 pm. In my truck driving over garden street bridge i took one look at RR the waves were huge, so decided to put in at haulover. Shrimp were very slow, water was merky but at least i was on the water and secure from the wind and waves in the canal. 20 shrimp is all we managed. I will try it again this next weekend (FULL MOON). Brandon

4/16 Patric AFB, Saturday night, 16 April, strong north wind....73 medium and large shrimps. Good night last night. -Los and Poolex, cruzn

4/18 oakhill, Decided to give it a try since the wind was supposed to be the calmest it has been in a week. Made it to Lopez @9:45 for the 1030 tide. The wind was out of the northeast 10+ and held the tide up till almost 1130 and then calmed. Temps were in the mid to upper 50's and the water was 68. Moved several times in beginning of the night and ended up north of Lefils. And yes, what everyone is waiting to read, we did fill the bucket! Mostly small to mediums though. Frame net did poorly with the light tide. Left them running pretty good at 2:45. shrimpzilla

4/19, RR bridge, 9:00 pm to 11:30 pm, light wind out of the southeast, air temp about 68°. clear skys, clean water. Anchored up on the north side of the bridge at the end of the boat line on the west. Scooped up about 100, mostly large. Heard some people talking about huge redfish under their lights toward the middle of the bridge, didn't see any myself though. Very nice night and not too crowded. PaulW

4/19/05 11pm -5am, Oakhill, SE 5-10 knots, 1 gallon, Went to put in at Lefills, no deal. The ramp is closed since 4/1, it is only open 5:30am-8pm ???? Slow but steady, seen better seen much worse. Anyone know what the deal is at Lefills??? skinnywater

4/20, RR Bridge, Air temp. 68°, winds ESE @ 7, clear sky. 8:30-11:30. Anchor on north side of bridge about 1/2 way on west end. Kinda slow tonight too, netted 71, no babies...all good size. It's gotta cut loose pretty soon, I can feel it yep Hey Jethro, seen ya at the bridge, I was anchored 2 boats to your east in the blue and white Stingray cuddy, so......you already know what is was like, I still never saw those reds everone else was seeing. PaulW

4/20, Riverbreeze, Shrimped from 1130 pm weds night til 530 thurs morning. Startrd out slow and small small enough not to bother dipping many. About 330 the nice size shrimp came til 530. Four gallons of what ended up being nice shrimp. River full of bait and fish and the mosquitos are terrible. Good luck should only get better tonite and fri.Reefromper

4/23 02:15-04:30, Riverbreeze, 65F S5, Occasional Clouds, Riverbreeze - Caught my first Gallon, we each got a Gallon (2) . Thanks for the how:to Jethro et.al.! RB parking full/ Fri night. Weather couldn't be beat, Shrimp cooperated, boaters polite, a good time had by all. For a good light, buy fluorescent bulbs (3 for $10.00) & seal them with some weight & a cheap extendsion cord in acrylic jars with epoxy. Run them on an inverter. 3.5 amps off of your battery for each one gets you 100W worth of light! Be careful with 120V Bert

4/28 RR Bridge, 66º air temp calm with 71º water. Got there at sun down to calm water. Wasn't alot of dippers tonight and very slow. Stayed till 11pm with only 3 dozen shrimp to show for it. Mostly large and jumbo. Looks like it's oakhill shrimping this weekend. Jethro

4/29/05 Riverbreeze Set up and ready to dip by sunset. Winds 10+ out of the south. Too many boats to count. Shrimp started small and few and far between. Even went an hour without seeing a single one. Almost called it a night around 11:30 or so, as most out there did; but then right around 12:00 am, they started coming. Not the small ones we had been seeing all night, these were all LARGE and some medium. They tide went slack, and they were still coming. The tide turned, and so did the shrimp. The were still running on the incoming tide. Stayed until 3:00, and left with right at 4 gal (3 ½ were from 12-3). Think I’ll give it another shot tonight, just hope we don’t have to wait as long. Patrick

4/29/05, oakhill, Southwinds 10 knots, 4 gallons, Arrived just in time to see the last Titan lift off from the Cape, very clear night, could really see it go. Water was choppy and current was running strong to north, dipping was steady. Skinnywater

29 Apr 05 Patrick AFB Seawall, Went out from 10:30pm-2am. Winds coming from the South East (not a very good wind for Patrick AFB). Caught 40 mediums and larges...we usually don't use our traps with a calm wind like this but worth a try...we caught one particular one that was 7.5 inches... Todd-o

4/30/05 Riverbreeze, Set up by sunset. Winds were 10-15 out of the south. Lots of boats, but no shrimp. We were able to get off the water just before the rain came, about 11 pm. Ended up with only six or so small (shrimp not gallons); and threw them all back. Hope others did much better. Patrick

5/1 RR Bridge, Air temp. 70°, N wind @ 15+, partly cloudy skies. 9 pm to 12 am, 3 dozen. Had planned on going Saturday night but the weather report did not look favorable. Got up Sunday expecting rain most of the day from the night before, oh well so much for the weather report. Anyway, only a handful of boats at the bridge, most on the east side, we picked the west end and anchored on the south side of the bridge. Windy conditions made it a little rocky but certainly bearable. Slow night, but at least the 3 dozen we netted were all large and only 2 rejects which were of questionable health. Finally saw the huge redfish and they hung around the lights most of the night. Imagine hookin up one of those monsters with all the wires and lines in the water from the lights, wow that would be a real mess. Paul W

5/1 patrick afb Sunday, 1 May 05, 9:30 pm-3am...laid traps out thinking it was not going to be a good night. Pulled up 103 large and jumbos. Winds NW@ 7mph. Humid 72 degrees out. Turned out to be a pretty good night. cruz

5/6 Patick AFB, Started 8pm-3am.....67 degrees, winds coming from the NW...caught 108 larges and jumbos with traps. Saw a lots on the surface, perfect night for dipping. Slow at first but it started picking up after the wind calmed down....---Los and Todd-o rockon

5/6 Went friday night to RR got set up before dark, we had a North wind at about 10 mph to start, all the sudden it starting picking up it must have been 20 plus at about 12:00. But we stayed with it because the shrimp were coming with the wind. The wind out of no where completely stopped at about 2:30 and so did the shrimp. We left with a good 3 gallons of Big and Jumbo, we measured a couple of them 7 inches long. Not to bad. Brandon

Decided to go again on Saturday 5/7 RR got set up same spot before dark. Waited and waited and waited. No shrimp ended up with 4 shrimp. Not 4 gallons, 4 shrimp. The wind was no longer a North wind but it was an east wind at about 5 to 10. We pulled anchor at 11:00 and drove over to the swing bridge no luck there either. Talked to some people 1 guy in a boat had just came from Haulover he had no luck there either. Oh well, mabye next weekend. Brandon

5/7 RR bridge, 70° air temp, South winds 5-10, 12 midnight to 4:30 am. Wll it was another slow night at the bridge. Managed to net only 35 disappointed at least they were lagre and jumbos. Paul

5/13, Went out to RR friday night, east wind about 5 to 10. From dark till 11:30. Netted 55 big/jumbos. It was clear skies a beautiful night just slim pickins. Brandon

5/14 RB, Was there at dark and stayed for about 1.5 Hours. Saw maybe 7 or 8 shrimp and about a thousand masquitos. Left before we got carried away by the blood suckers. Earl

5/14, Went to the RR bridge for the first time. There was a slight current running north, but not much else. There were quite a few boats on the area between the swing bridge and the western shore. Beautiful night on the water, but the shrimp were just trickling through. We ended up netting 60. Also got at least a dozen crabs too!  RJF

5/15, Oakhill, i was out at 8pm sunday, winds were about 10-15mph out of the south(that helped with the bugs) water conditions were bad then worse once the winds died down, 10-20 boats out there. look this is what my eyes looked like because as soon as the sun went down the shrimp were everywhere. 5/21 The wife said we just don't have enough shrimp in the freezer this season so off we went to Oak Hill/lopez Friday night from 1 till 4:30 AM. Started very slow, we made a move, still slow. I'm thinking this is not worth losing sleep over. Then about 3:00 AM the flood gates opened and they were swarming everywhere yikes . Got 3+ gallons... most in the last 1.5 hours. Left them running a little early to hit the flats fishin (could'a had more but she's happy now) Mr. Green BTW.. mostly small/mediums with about 10-15% large. rockon mcsnook

5/23, HC, Went to Haulover Mon night. It was pretty warm, and really humid. On the water from 9pm - 11pm. At first, they were only trickling through, but from about 9:30ish to 10:30ish, the dipping was fast and frantic. With a crew of one, I was able to get around 2 1/2 gals. Folks at the ramp with more crew were leaving with their limit. The shrimp were more mixed in size then they have been of late - got a lot more smalls and mediums compared to before - but still ended up with a bunch of large to jumbos! yep Would have been a great night for crabs, there were a lot of them, and they were pretty big. Good night to be on the water! cheersRJF

06 Nov 2005 10:40 am, Still to early for oak hill, way to warm. Very little grass or debris in the water and very few small crabs. We set up at about 5-530pm. The campground was packed and so was the fishing pier but only about 6-10 boats were around with nets. I never saw the other boats take their shrimp nets off of their racks. Seemed more of a social event and i was fine with that. Water clarity was waaay bad. We caught about 12 shrimp and used them to bait our hooks. Lady fish and Catfish kept our lines tight. We finished at about 10pm. Quite a beautiful evening and a great time was had by all. Good luck

12/1, Made it to Parrish Park by sunset and headed out. Light wind out of the NW. The water had zero to maybe a slight flow from the south and was low vis. Picked up 6 nice shrimp right after dark and was hoping for a nice pick through the night. Wasn't to be. Stayed till about 1015p and picked one here and there. Weakly covered the bottom of the bucket. First time out this year and even if the shrimping wasn't good, still enjoyed the evening. Clay

12-22-05, Titusville RR Bridge, N wind 10 mph - 50 degrees, Set up on the south side of the bridge along with about seven or eight other boats already there. Saw and dipped a total of six shrimp from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Nobody else seemed to be picking up many. Checked the Titusville bridge on the way back to the ramp and even most of the bridge dippers had given up. Oh well maybe next time. fishman349
